Signs of Summer...

Spring moves swiftly through the woods and waterways, leaving an abundance of green in her path and rousing sweet strawberries, hearty asparagus, and juicy stone fruit from their winter dormancy.  She dances across orchards and farmland, peppering the landscape with blossoms and blooms and bursts of bright color.  Finally, she settles in over our towns, transforming them into bustling resorts and filling the Round Swamp Farm stores with friends new and old. As spring melts into summer, we look forward to welcoming you back to this special place and to sharing the bounty of our beloved east end.

Farming

When it comes to the awesome task of planting and harvesting the 16-acre farm behind the market, it's Charlie Niggles and his son Steven who have taken the reigns from Carolyn's husband, the late Harold Snyder.  They are proud of the work that they do and it shows in the many varieties of fresh produce grown at Round Swamp Farm.

These men share a simple philosophy bred over generations of respecting the land that yields fruits and vegetables with unparalleled quality and taste.  Every ear, spud, and head is picked by hand.  Throughout the season they carry their abundant pickings to the store where every taste evokes the impressions of a simpler time and honest farm to table living.

Lester Bicentennial Farm

Round Swamp Farm is a National Bicentennial Farm on which the Lester family has farmed for 9 generations.

The Bicentennial Farm program recognizes New York Farms in continuous operation by the same family for 200 years or more as well as progressive agriculture and community service by farm families. Every fifth year, deserving farm families are recognized with Bicentennial Farm awards by the New York State Agricultural Society.

Members of the family continue to live on the farm alongside the undulating rows of sweet corn and tidy rows of heirloom tomatoes, and sunflowers.
